Insight | Out Report: UAE’s Meetings & Events Industry
The United Arab Emirates has earned a reputation as a prestigious and popular destination for meetings and incentives as well as for weddings and celebrations. Despite the drop in visitors and revenues in 2020 (due to COVID-19 restrictions), the market is set to recover in terms of numbers of visitors and major corporate events as the country completes its preparations to host the international Expo in Dubai, which will now run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022 to help shape a post-pandemic world.
Even as the region begins to plan for phased openings, caution remains. Social distancing requirements, continued restrictions on events, and travel limitations will one day lift, but for now seem to be a very real “new normal”. However, hospitality professionals are trying their best to ensure that every opportunity turns into a step toward business restart – which starts with adaptability and flexibility.
The findings of this study will help hoteliers to position their venue to attract more business and improve conversion in the post-pandemic world. The data is based on the survey responses of executives from key M&E hotels and exhibition centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, including Accor Group, InterContinental Hotel Group, Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts, Marriott International and many more.
