Another month, another amazing list. Following the top MICE hotels released by Cvent last month, comes the third annual list of top 25 cities for meeting and events in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Five years ago, Cvent began this tradition of announcing an annual list of top MICE cities, by identifying the meeting destinations that are most popular among planners.
London has topped the list of best destinations in the EMEA to host meetings and events for a second consecutive year. Barcelona retained its position in second place, followed by Berlin jumping two spots from the previous year (#3), Amsterdam (#4) and Paris (#5). Madrid also made a big move to #6, jumping two spots as well. Finishing the top ten are Frankfurt (#7), Rome (#8), Munich (#9) and Prague (#10). Hamburg is the highest climber on the list, going nine places up to secure a place at #25.
Each year, Cvent evaluates more than 2,500 cities in the EMEA region that are featured in the Cvent Supplier Network – an industry-leading sourcing tool that contains a robust listing of hotels and other venues in more than 175 countries. Activity was tracked on the tool from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016, after which the ranking was determined by a set of qualifying criteria, such as unique request for proposals (RFPs) received, total room nights requested in RFPs, awarded RFPs, awarded room nights, percentage of qualified meeting venues, and number of profile views. Cvent also looked at the change in average daily hotel rate between 2015 and 2016 for each city on the list.

Cvent has released a similar list for top meeting destinations in the APAC region, which you can access here. For more information, check out our blog post on the APAC list.
