In December last year, Cvent announced that its online event venue sourcing platform now offers planners the ability to source and request proposals from hotels and venues in 18 different languages.

The new language localisation feature within the Cvent Supplier Network (CSN) was a significant enhancement for a platform that connects over 80,000 meeting and event organisers with more than 280,000 hotels and venues around the world.

CSN is a powerful venue sourcing platform, which allows planners to find meetings and event space that matches a range of specifications, get critical safety updates from venues, determine availability, quickly build RFPs, track cancelled space and centralise venue data for smarter, more effective MICE programme management.

CSN now supports the following 18 languages: Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Dutch, English (United States), Finnish, French, French (Canadian), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (European), Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish.

Earlier this week, Matthew Walkling, Business Development Executive for Cvent and Suzanne Mahar, Client Success Advisor in Cvent’s venue sourcing team, co-hosted a webinar to showcase the multi-lingual feature and to provide an update on expanding language support to all CSN users.

During the webinar, entitled Experience the Cvent Supplier Network in 18 Languages, Walkling and Mahar confirmed that although the ability to search and book domestic or international venues in a planner's native and/or preferred language has been available for a majority of users, the next phase of the language roll-out will include all corporate and paid-for CSN accounts, including those with additional and upgraded functionality.

“The continued roll-out of the new multilingual feature will help planners and venues reduce the misunderstandings and complications that often arise from mistranslation, and ultimately save time to help planners find the perfect venue for their event,” Walkling says. “We’re encouraging all venues and hotels to use the direct feed option to manually update the available languages on their profile. Any supplier not able to complete a manual input will see their profile automatically updated via Amazon Translate.”

CSN’s search application is now also localised to reflect a logged-in user's locale and language preferences.

Google will crawl the venue’s CSN profile data and return search results, all in the user’s native language. Additionally, all users will have the option to switch to any of the 18 languages at any time.

The preferred language option is carried through much of the venue sourcing process, from search through to contracting a request for proposal (RFP). Further enhancements include a simplified RFP process, which improves and streamlines communication between the planner and venue.

“Hotels in English-speaking regions can expect to see more RFPs from non-English speakers, particularly as North America and Europe lead the global Covid-19 recovery effort,” Mahar says. “While international hotels and venues can work with local planners in their native language and can also receive RFPs from foreign planners looking to source in their region.

"The Cvent Supplier Network is now easier and more intuitive to use by multi-language speaking hoteliers, which will lead to higher adoption by non-English speaking hoteliers, faster response times to your RFPs by hoteliers in multi-language speaking countries, an increase in the number of bids from international hoteliers and increased proposal accuracy.”
