The digital transformation has taken over nearly every industry, including meetings and events. But how are hoteliers using it to market their properties, optimize the group sales and sourcing experience, and build more personal relationships with planners?
Cvent decided to find out. In our mission to help hotels grow and own their group business, we partnered with industry leader Skift to explore the latest trends. The resulting report, “How Technology Is Disrupting the Multibillion Dollar Meetings Industry,” uncovers some very interesting insights for hotels.
Highlights From the Report
- Costs are rising across the entire event life cycle because of factors such as increasing third-party intermediation, more expensive technology systems, rising labor and real estate costs, and a heightened attention to security. But group planners aren’t seeing their budgets rise accordingly.
- Cloud-based technology and marketing solutions are helping hoteliers combat those rising costs. Consolidating tools and finding platforms that can integrate with one another are key to efficiency.
- It’s becoming increasingly important for hotels to own the customer relationship and participate in more parts of the client journey. Online sourcing tools allow them to do that by helping them get to know who their customers are as much as possible.
- As technology evolves with corporate processes, it is no longer necessary to have different departments handle business travel arrangements and small meetings. Consolidating these booking processes helps travel managers better track expenses and ROI.
