2022 has shown an upward trend in hotel performance, and owners, management groups, developers, and investors are moving forward with development plans across the U.S. Dallas is booming more than most.
From the intimacy of boutique hotels to the convenience and luxury of large convention hotels, all the nation’s top brands are represented in Dallas. More than 35,000 hotel rooms in city limits provide accommodations for any preference and price point, with 15,000 of those rooms located in Dallas’ walkable downtown core.
Dallas comes in third in the top five markets with projects currently under construction with a total of 25 projects and 3,725 guestrooms. Here we highlight three of these projects expected to be completed in 2023.
JW Marriott
This new, 15-story, 283-room hotel will open in the heart of the city’s downtown Arts District. The property features a 25,000-square-foot grand ballroom, as well as a spa, restaurant, lobby bar, fitness center, and a rooftop pool deck and bar.
InterContinental Dallas
Located in Cityplace Tower in Uptown, InterContinental Dallas will feature sweeping panoramic views of the Dallas skyline. Guests will enjoy spacious, high-end rooms and amenities, including more than 21,000 square feet of event space.
Harwood Hotel
Harwood Hotel, a new, 20-story luxury property, is rising in Uptown’s Harwood District and will make its mark on the Dallas skyline — a sculptural white building with cantilevered upper floors, as well as a swimming pool and garden on the roof.
In addition to the upcoming hotel projects and already impressive selection of boutique and convention hotels currently booking, Dallas is thrilled to announce the approval of a 2.5 million square-foot convention center with 800,000 square feet of exhibit space and 300,000 square feet of breakout area, including 160,000 square feet of ballroom space.
The center will not only be impressive on the inside, there will also be an outdoor event area that will feature terraces with incredible views of downtown Dallas and the Trinity River. Plus, the center will connect Downtown with neighboring districts like the Cedars and the planned Rail District, creating a walkable entertainment experience that includes restaurants, retail and lodging options. This expansion project is scheduled to be completed by 2029.
