Tempe is an ideal destination for meetings with 10 to 500 attendees. It is less than 10 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and accessible via Valley Metro Rail. In addition to flexible meeting space, Tempe is home to more than 330 days of sunshine a year, an exciting dining and craft beer scene, and outdoor adventures from hiking to hot air ballooning.
Tempe is always evolving, and planners will find updated meeting venues, new hotels and the debut of a new streetcar system, opening in 2021.
Tempe Mission Palms, located in the heart of Downtown Tempe, recently completed a beautiful refresh defined as Arizona Mid Century Mission and is now GBAC certified. The 303 guestrooms and main lobby now have a modern new look. This hotel offers more than 30,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor function space.
The first Canopy by Hilton in Arizona opened in Downtown Tempe in June 2020. It is located adjacent to Arizona State University (ASU). Each Canopy property is designed as a natural extension of its neighborhood with connections to local art, food, drink and culture. This 14-story features 198 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant, a spacious gym, more than 5,000 sq. ft. of event space, a rooftop pool with a terrace bar, cabanas and a fire pit.
In August 2020, Tempe welcomed a dual-branded Hyatt House and Hyatt Place. With a combined total of 259 guestrooms, the property is well situated next to Arizona State University and Downtown Tempe. Amenities include just over 3,900 sq. ft. of meeting space, on-site dining options and a rooftop pool.
Currently under construction, the Westin Tempe is scheduled to open by June 2021. This 290-room hotel will include 18,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and a rooftop pool with lounge. The Westin Tempe will be a welcome addition to the rapidly growing Downtown Tempe cityscape.
Before and after the meeting, your attendees will enjoy Downtown Tempe, a pedestrian-friendly area which offers more than 100 restaurants, pubs, shops and night spots. Breweries and chef driven dining experiences can be found throughout the city. New additions to Tempe’s dining scene include Golden Pineapple, which features Baja Mexican-style cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients and hand-crafted cocktails. Postino South Tempe is the newest addition to the Postino brand, a collection of local eateries known for their extensive wine list and bruschetta boards.
Beyond the culinary scene, visitors to Tempe will find intriguing contemporary art at ASU Art Museum, kayaking and paddleboarding on Tempe Town Lake, miles of cactus-lined hiking trails in Papago Park and the awe-inspiring Desert Botanical Garden, all within minutes of any hotel in the city.
