Opened as The Statler Hotel in 1943, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Capital Hilton has welcomed every president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The most celebrated presidential visitor is Harry Truman, who has an Executive Suite dedicated to him that contains the baby grand piano he played during his visits to the hotel. During the Civil Rights era, Martin Luther King, Jr. and his team stayed at the hotel prior to the March on Washington and returned afterward to continue planning efforts.
Newly Renovated Guest Rooms
Earlier this year, Capital Hilton proudly unveiled newly renovated guest rooms, marking the culmination of a nearly year-long project. The project aimed to celebrate grandeur, glam, geometric form and repetitive patterns that brings together an art deco design with the hotel’s brutalist architecture, giving all 559 guest rooms an original design that weaves in modern conveniences for today’s travelers.

Capital Hilton is dedicated to sustainability, with several eco-friendly hotel-wide initiatives that are implemented daily as well as practices geared toward guests to practice during their visit to access their guest room digitally, reduce single-use plastic, and recycle waste.
