Cvent recently unveiled the list of Top 50 Meeting Hotels in the Asia Pacific and Hyatt Regency Sydney retained the topmost position for the second consecutive year owing to its rising popularity amongst corporate travellers.

To find out the reason behind its accomplishment, we asked Malcolm Zancanaro, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Sydney about what makes the property stand out as No. 1 event venue in the Asia Pacific region and how Cvent has contributed towards its success.

Q: Describe your hotel and its operations. What’s unique?

A: Perfectly positioned in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, overlooking Darling Harbour, Hyatt Regency Sydney is the largest hotel in Australia and a market leader for meetings and events. The property features 892 well-appointed, modern guestrooms and suites, architecturally designed Regency Club facilities, two expansive ballrooms each with the capacity to host a cocktail style gathering of over 1,000 delegates, and 3,700 square metres of flexible meeting and event spaces.  The property is home to five culinary outlets including the stunning Zephyr Sky Bar with panoramic views of the city skyline and recently opened Jackalberry Bar which takes guests on a journey of global exploration.

Perfectly suited for residential events, the property provides both accommodation and meeting facilities ideal for those looking to host their event under one roof. In addition, the property can accommodate up to 400 twin guestrooms making it a great option for incentive travel market and clients seeking large room blocks.

Q: What do planners want, and why do they select you?

A: Hyatt Regency Sydney boasts an impressive location facing the beautiful Darling Harbour. The hotel is just about 20-minutes’ drive from the Sydney airport and only moments away from many iconic attractions such as the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and the Promenade which is lined with bars and restaurants. The hotel is well-connected with all public transport, luxury shopping precincts, Barangaroo and Sydney’s International Convention Centre.

In addition, the hotel offers two spectacular ballrooms each illuminated with an abundance of natural light and views of Darling Harbour. These spaces are designed to operate simultaneously, each with their own access and entrance points, pre-function areas, bathroom facilities and goods lifts, making them ideal for large scale as well as private events.

Q: Describe any specific and notable success Cvent has helped you to accomplish.

A: Hyatt Regency Sydney works closely with Cvent for lead generation. Typically, the hotel receives an average of two leads per day through Cvent for meetings, conferences and events. As such, Cvent has proved to be a very important tool for the Sales team in generating business leads for the property.

Q: What’s next in terms of goals and objectives? Where does a top hotel improve?

A: At Hyatt Regency Sydney, we’re always striving to deliver the best experience for our guests whether they are visiting the hotel for a weekend stay or large event. As such, guest feedback is of utmost importance to our business. We review guest feedback surveys daily, empower our colleagues to engage with them throughout their stay, and keep in touch with them to build strong, trusted relationships. Improving the guest experience is something we will always strive to achieve.
