Hyatt Regency Amritsar

Located 15 minutes from Hyatt Regency Amritsar lies The Golden Temple, a place of spiritual significance and importance to the Sikh faith. It represents the heritage and identity of the Sikhs through its history and architecture, constructed with Muslim, Hindu and European design principles. Founded by the fourth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Ramdas Ji, it was completed by his successor Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

A daily flag raising and lowering ceremony at Wagah Border, done with fascinating pomp and ceremony that involves lots of tall soldiers in massive turbans goose-stepping about and slamming gates is a must watch. Both the Indian and Pakistani border forces do this and it has become a tradition for people from both sides to gather and see this. Both sides synchronize their parade and the entire event is meant to create a feel-good/patriotic fervor amongst the crowd.

A public garden in Amritsar, and houses a memorial of national importance, established in 1951 to commemorate the massacre by British occupying forces of peaceful celebrators on the occasion of the Punjabi New Year on April 13, 1919.
