The Village Museum is an open air museum established in 1967 to showcase Tanzanian rural life as it could have appeared until very recently. The Village Museum offers a chance to observe a number of typical style Tanzanian traditional huts and learn more about the tribes of the country.

The National Museum of Tanzania is a consortium of five Tanzanian museums whose purpose is to preserve and show exhibits about the history and natural environment of Tanzania. The consortium developed from the National Museum of Dar es Salaam, established in 1934 by Tanganyika governor Harold MacMichael. Established in 1934 and open to the public since 1940,[1] it was originally a memorial museum dedicated to King George V; one of the cars of the King is still on display. It's most famous exhibits include some bones of Paranthropus boisei that were among the findings of Louis Leakey at Olduvai. The museum also has a large section dedicated to the Shirazi city-state of Kilwa. More historical miscellaneous material is related to the German and British rule, and ancient Chinese pottery. The museum also has ethnographic collections on Tanzanian cultures.

The Dar es Salaam Botanical Garden is filled with an exciting combination of indigenous and exotic plants including the rare coco-de-mer palm tree outside its native Seychelles. Established in 1893, this stunning garden is now home to the Dar Es Salaam Horticultural Society and offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy local flora in a quiet and serene setting.

Mbudya Island is one of the four islands of the Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve. It is a picturesque, laid-back island known for its quiet sandy beaches, turquoise water, swimming, fresh sea food & water sports accessible by renting a small boat from the Masaki Peninsula.

Bongoyo Island is an uninhabited part of the Dar Es Salaam marine conservation area. It’s a leisure island, mostly used for relaxation as a swimming and snorkeling beach that’s close and easily accessible by chartering a small boat from the Masaki Peninsula.
