Pousada de Arraiolos, Nossa Senhora da Assuncao Historic Hotel is located in Arraiolos, Portugal. In a sixteenth century convent, The Pousada de Arraiolos, Nossa Senhora da Assunção, is situated in a sixteenth century convent presenting itself as an example in the art of recovery of historical buildings which combine traditional features with the concepts of modern architecture. The union between tradition and modernisms is celebrated in this Pousada with innovated luxury. The Pousada has 35 spacious rooms, simply decorated and most of them with private balconies. White is the predominant colour, which together with the designer wooden beds and materials used, make this décor unique. All rooms have cable TV and a mini bar. At the exterior of the Pousada there is pool with wide sun terraces and a panoramic view of the natural Alentejo landscape where you can explore the surroundings on horseback, by bicycle or simply on foot.

The city of Arraiolos in Alentejo is known above all for its long tradition, passed from generation to generation through the centuries, of the hand embroidered "Tapete de Arraiolos" (Arraiolos Tapestry), the most genuine craftsmanship of the town. With regards to the convents history, it is known that the first stone was placed down on the date of the crowning of D. João III, more precisely on 14th August 1527, the eve of the day of Nossa Senhora Da Assunção (Our Lady of Assumption) as such the convent was dedicated to her.
