The Palace Theatre, a grand cultural entertainment facility in the heart of Albany, New York first opened its doors in October 1931. Built during the Depression, the Palace was the largest theatre in a city already noted for a number of other opulent movie houses, seating over 2800 patrons. Today, the Palace Theatre remains the sole survivor of this period of entertainment and continues to make history with a widely diverse offering of popular musical acts, cultural events and Classic Movies. It truly is the Jewel of Downtown Albany and acts as the anchor for the blossoming arts scene in the Capital Region.

Albany Riverfront Park at the Corning Preserve is a waterfront destination for recreation and a variety of entertainment, including the Thursday night Alive at Five concert series and the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival. With easy access provided by the Hudson River Way Pedestrian Bridge, Albany Riverfront Park includes a large amphitheatre, floating boat docks, and a bicycle path for recreation.

Sitting majestically atop Albany's State Street hill, the New York State Capitol has served as the seat of government for New York since the 1880s. The building is a marvel of late 19th century architectural grandeur. Under the direction of five architects, the Capitol was built by hand of solid masonry over a period of 32 years. By 1899 its cost had exceeded twenty-five million dollars.

The Egg was designed by Wallace Harrison for all the people of New York State and to accommodate many events and performances. The Egg houses two theatres – the Lewis A. Swyer Theatre and the Kitty Carlisle Hart Theatre. Seating 450, the Swyer Theatre is used for chamber music concerts, cabaret, lectures, multimedia presentations, solo performers and a majority of educational programming. With a seating capacity of 982, the Hart Theatre is used for larger productions including musical theatre, dance and music concerts. Built in 1859, St. Peter's Protestant Episcopal Church is the second-oldest protestant church in the United States and a national historic landmark. The building has a Gothic revival style, with high ceilings, mosaic-tiled floors, an impressive altar and 12 magnificent stained glass windows flanking the church aisles. The windows date from the mid-19th century to the 20th and each was designed by an eminent English artist. One of the windows is considered a church treasure -- it was designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, a British artist famous for reviving the use of stained glass in England. The SUNY System Administration Building, also known as the Old D&H Railroad Building, is a public office building located at the intersection of Broadway and State Street in downtown Albany, New York. Locally the building and land it sits on is referred to as State University Plaza, or the D&H Plaza; prior to the construction of the Empire State Plaza it was simply "The Plaza". It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 as Delaware and Hudson Railroad Company Building.
