The Walkabout Creek facility was originally opened as a wildlife Expo and tea house in 1988 by the Department of Natural Resources as a bicentennial project for Brisbane Expo 88. Function rooms were added in the mid nineties. The Walkabout Creek function and Conference Centre which also includes the Green Tree Frog Cafe is managed and operated by Cuisine on Cue.
