Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington County, Virginia is a military cemetery in the United States, established during the American Civil War on the grounds of Arlington House, formerly the estate of the family of Robert E. Lee's wife Mary Anna (Custis) Lee, a descendant of Martha Washington. The cemetery is situated directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. and near The Pentagon. It is served by the Arlington Cemetery station on the Blue Line of the Washington Metro system. More than 300,000 people are buried in an area of 624 acres (2.53 km2). Veterans and military casualties from every one of the nation's wars are interred in the cemetery, from the American Civil War through the military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Pre-Civil War dead were reinterred after 1900. Arlington National Cemetery and United States Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery are administered by the Department of the Army. The other National Cemeteries are administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs or by the National Park Service. Arlington House (Custis-Lee Mansion) and its grounds are administered by the National Park Service as a memorial to Lee.

Alexandria Amtrak Station is located across the street from the George Washing Masonic Monument. ALX connects you to the entire Bo-Wash corridor. You can ride Amtrak north to BWI, Baltimore, Philadelphia, NYC and Boston and beyond. The Kennedy Center, located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., is America's living memorial to President Kennedy as well as the nation's busiest arts facility. Touring Kennedy Center productions and its television, radio, and Internet broadcasts reach more than 40 million people around the world each year. As part of the Kennedy Center's Performing Arts for Everyone program, more than 400 free performances are offered each year featuring international, national, and local artists. These include daily 6 p.m. concerts on the Millennium Stage—now in its 16th year—which are streamed live over the Internet and digitally archived on Kennedy-Center.org.

The George Washington Masonic National Memorial is a museum designed to educate the world about George Washington: the man and the Mason. Built in 1922, through the generosity of Washington’s family and friends, Alexandria-Washington Lodge became the repository of many artifacts pertaining to George Washington and the Washington family. The Lodge operated a museum where the public could see much of this collection and learn about George Washington. But, over time, the lodge rooms were deemed inadequate for the display and storage of the memorabilia. A fire in the lodge in 1871 destroyed many the invaluable and significant Washington artifacts.

The Washington Monument is an obelisk on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., built to commemorate George Washington, commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and the first American president. The monument, made of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss is both the world's tallest stone structure and the world's tallest obelisk, standing 555 feet 5+1⁄8 inches (169.294 m).
