Awards Cristal Award Cristal is a health and hygiene program that certifies compliance with the highest standards for quality in food safety. This program is focused on the following areas: food and drink, Legionnaires' disease prevention, swimming pool safety and health control, and ongoing training. Ecological Blue Flag The Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (Costa Rican Institute for Water and Sewage), in its efforts to maintain the Costa Rican beaches, awards the Ecological Blue Flag to those tourism establishments that satisfy quality standards in sea water, beaches, access to drinking water, water treatment, environmental education, safety and management.
