The Alaska Native Heritage Center, a renowned cultural center and museum in Anchorage, is an exciting place where all people can come to expand their understanding of Alaska's first people. Our cultural center and museum is located in Northeast Anchorage. Local residents and visitors to Alaska are introduced to Native traditions and customs of both the past and present. The Welcome House is a celebration of contemporary Alaska Native cultures while the outdoor facilities and sites allow the exploration of ancient tradition and the presentation of stories from the past. Our Center provides a unique opportunity to experience Alaska's many diverse Native cultures at one location. In facilitating the transmission of Alaska Native knowledge, heritage and tradition, the Center promotes self-esteem and pride among Alaska Natives. The Alaska Native Heritage Center improves understanding among all Alaskans and encourages appreciation of Alaska Native people and their traditions, history, and contributions to Alaska.

The Alaska Zoo is a zoo in Anchorage, Alaska located on 25 acres of the Anchorage Hillside. It is a popular attraction in Alaska, with nearly 200,000 visitors per year. The zoo is currently home to more than 100 birds and mammals representing some 50 species. The zoo has the widest variety of animals native to the state of Alaska as well as some exotics such as Siberian Tiger, Amur tigers, Bactrian Camels, and yaks. In addition to viewing, the zoo specializes in education, research, wildlife conservation, and animal rehabilitation; many of the animals currently in the zoo were found orphaned or injured.

A world-class museum located in the heart of Alaska's largest city, the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center opened its doors in 1968 with an exhibition of 60 borrowed Alaska paintings, and a collection of 2,500 historic and ethnographic objects loaned from the Cook Inlet Historical Society. The Anchorage Museum brings the best of Alaska to the world and the best of the world to Alaska. Through a combination of art, history and science the Anchorage Museum creates a rich, deep understanding of the human experience and offers something for everyone. The Arctic Studies Center supports the Museum's mission through research, education, collections and exhibitions. Today the Museum-one of the 10 most visited attractions in Alaska-looks forward to another expansion of both its facility and mission, to become the region's premier repository and workshop for the study, appreciation, and enjoyment of the culture and science of the North.
