Salalah is a fertile land with the highest production of banana and coconuts in the country. Unlike the rest of Oman where you will find ample date trees everywhere, Salalah is the only region in the country with no dates tree but coconut! Due to the abundance of coconut in the city, there is a dedicated street of coconut market near Ad Dahariz beach in Salalah. The street gets jammed pack with cars as soon as the sun sets, which clearly shows its popularity among the locals. Visitors and tourists at Al Baleed and Samahram Archaeological Sites numbered 8,631 by the end of December last year, according to statistics issued by the Department of Frankincense Land at the Office of His Majesty the Sultan’s Advisor for Cultural Affairs. The Al Baleed Archaeological Park and the Frankincense Land Museum together received 5,412 visitors while the Samahram Park received 3,219 visitors. The overall number of tourists who visited the Al Baleed and Samahram Archaeological Sites over the last year stood at 94,068 up from 56,104 tourists who visited the site over the same period last year.
