This Hotel is located in an authentic Portuguese house, within the historic walls of Obidos. Formerly designated as Site of the convent because there was, according to popular tradition, a convent of a religious order, perhaps in the century. X or XI but which, to date, has not been identified. For many years, the building was first devoted to the Casa da Agua, where the inhabitants of Obidos used to fetch water from the well that still exists today in the basement of the building. This lasted until 1570, when D. Catarina ordered the construction of the still existing aqueduct. Later it was also a Taverna, where the beautiful wine of the Obidense region, the Gaeiras, could be tasted, and it was a stopover for Óbidenses and also for visitors, who entertained themselves in mild “cabbage”.
