It's situated in the heart of the town of Biarritz, at walking distance from museums, old harbour, shopping, restaurants and casino. The golf course of Biarritz, “Biarritz Le Phare” is only 5 min drive and 15 golf courses are located in an area of 50 km. Basque typical villages are also closed to experience the countryside.

75% of the grounds of Biarritz Pays Basque airport are located in the town of Anglet and 25% in Biarritz. The airport was built in the 1950s to serve a catchment area covering the southern part of the Landes département and the entire Pyrénées-Atlantiques département, as well as part of the Guipuzcoa province in the Spanish Basque Country. Biarritz Airport is run by a special governing board (“Syndicat Mixte”), made up of members from the Municipal Councils of CôteBasqueAdour, the Department Councils of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Department Councils of the Landes and the town of Saint Jean de Luz. The involvement of all these key local government players shows just how determined we are in our policy to place BAB Airport at the heart of the region’s future economic development.

The historic capital of European surfing The spots of Biarritz offer something to please all types of surfers thanks to a wide variety of waves: short and powerful on the northern beaches, filtered in the Côte des Basques and longer in the south. In 1957, the American Peter Viertel, husband of the actress Deborah Kerr, was the first to surf the waves of Biarritz. Now known as one of the key surfing locations, Biarritz attracts surfers from all around the world. It is also home to surfing competitions such as le Roxy Pro in July, the world female longboard championship,Quiksilver Maider Arosteguy cup in April In Biarritz, the surf culture is everywhere, as proven by the Cité de l’Océan and the number of surf shops and board rental outlets. From April to November, 18 surfing schools welcome beginners or experienced surfers alike, for a few hours of tuition or several days. In addition, prestigious surfing brands like Quiksilver, Billabong and Rip Curl, are based around Biarritz. For its investment in the discipline, and with the surfers, Biarritz obtained in October, 2015, the label City of surfing - 3 stars (on a scale which contains 3) awarded by the French Federation of Surfing

The Virgin's Rock

It was Napoleon III's idea to hollow out this rock, surrounded by reef, and connect it to the cliff by means of a wooden bridge. Today, it is linked to the coast by a metal footbridge built in Eiffel's workshops. It is inaccessible in rough weather as big waves cover the road surface. Partly occupying an Art Deco building, this large and particularly impressive aquarium offers a diversified approach to the marine biotope and the special links that Biarritz has with the ocean. It features around twenty tanks home to the fauna found in the Bay of Biscay.
