One of a Kind Experience! Since its opening in November 1996, the Telluride/Mountain Village gondola has served as a one-of-a-kind transportation system – the first and only free public transportation system of its kind in the United States. This 8-mile, 13-minute ride the ride offers incredible 365-degree views of the San Juan mountains. Taking a ride on the “G” is an experience that cannot be replicated and is a must do while visiting! The Gondola consists of 2 parts and 4 stations. Begin your journey at Telluride Station and take in the beauty of town from above. The Gondola then reaches its summit of 10,540 feet at San Sophia Station. Feel free to get off here and head to the slopes, hiking & biking trails, or Allred’s Restaurant. Get back on at San Sophia and enjoy the epic views of the ski resort as you descend into Mountain Village and drops you off at the Gondola Plaza. Once you are in the plaza you can head down the steps to Mountain Village Core or ride the second part of the Gondola to reach the Mountain Market, the Post Office, and Mountain Village Town Hall. At its core, the free gondola is transportation, meant to provide a simple and clean commuting option. All the electricity used to operate the Gondola is provided by wind and solar power. The cabins serve as lifts for skiers & snowboarders, mountain bikers, hikers, and tourists & locals alike.

THE EXPERIENCE Take the Gondola to downtown Telluride and Wander Telluride’s historic Colorado Avenue or the pedestrian-friendly plazas of Mountain Village for the latest sporting equipment from the beloved, family-owned Bootdoctors or browse super-soft sweaters, scarves and blankets made in a 150-year-old Scottish mill at Cashmere RED. Independent retail shops offer clothing, jewelry, home goods, gifts, and more. Guaranteed to find a special treasure that you can't find anywhere else. Shops are full of rich mining town history!

THE EXPERIENCE Perched at 9,417 feet above sea level, the Telluride Golf Course stands as one of the highest courses in the world —and that works to your advantage. THE EXPERIENCE The San Juan Mountains provide a variety of terrain for riders of every skill level and ability. Choose from the aptly named “Penelope’s Cruise,” one of the area’s best beginner rides, to more challenging trails that explore old mining roads and basins, winding through colorful wildflower meadows and thick aspen groves high above the box canyon. During the non-skiing months, our Ski Valet turns into Base Camp where attendants can store bikes and offer trail advice and tips for the most memorable biking excursions. ~ Complimentary access from the gondola for mountain flow trails ~ Base Camp attendants know the best trails and can give you local tips ~ Rent or purchase a bike or bike equipment

THE EXPERIENCE Telluride really is an angler’s paradise, with some of the finest trout streams in the Rocky Mountains and plenty of lakes, ponds and alpine creeks. We’ll set you up with a local guide for choosing a float fishing trip or accessing private waters for pursuing trophy trout in ultimate solitude.
