Souq Al Wakra, also known as Souq Waqif, Al Wakra or Heritage Village, officially opened on Al Wakra seafront in late 2014. Following Doha, Al Wakra is the second largest city in Qatar. Located in eastern Qatar, just south of Doha, the city is believed to have a history of its own, independent from that of the capital. In the charming, ancient city of Al Wakra is an enchanting, thriving souq that is well worth a visit for anyone interested in Qatari heritage and culture, and seeing Qatar outside of the bright lights of its capital city. Al Wakra’s own thriving market – Souq Al Wakra – is full of popular restaurants and coffee shops. The souq stretches for approximately 3 km along the town’s coast, with a corniche for people to walk along. The spiral mosque of the Kassem Darwish Fakhroo Islamic Centre has become in a few years one of Doha’s most famous landmarks. This is not a traditional Qatari mosque but a replica of the Great Mosque of Al-Mutawwakil in Samarra in Iraq. It is located in Souqs area (Close to Souq Waqif) a stone throw from the Corniche Street. The spiral minaret dominating the old city is enlightened at night The Mosque is a part of a large building – The Qatar Islamic Cultural Center aiming at explaining Islam to non Muslim foreigners. In addition to the mosque it also includes a department store and a cultural center with permanent exhibition detailing the basics of Islam. Hamad is the new home of Qatar Airways with a current annual capacity of over 30 million passengers, making it the second largest Airport in the MER (Middle East Region), second only to Dubai which is now the busiest airport in the world. Situated on reclaimed land, the passenger terminal complex 702,000 sq metres in size, has been voted the Best Airport in the Middle East in 2014 by Skytrax.

Al Bidda Park is Qatar’s largest park located in the heart of Doha, offering a wide range of activities to cater for all ages. Al Bidda Park is Qatar’s first pet-friendly public park and has been chosen as one of the official fan zones for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 The park includes large gymnasiums, including one for women, in addition to outdoor exercise equipment, sports, open and shaded playgrounds, an open-air theatre which can seat 850 spectators, as well as tracks for bicycles, horses and camels, water fountains, and other recreational and service facilities. In addition, activities in the park include biking, football, basketball, tennis, dog walking, bird watching and more.

The Corniche is a waterfront palm-fringed boulevard and twin carriageway that extends in a horseshoe shape and runs 7 km along the Doha Bay and the city's sea-front. The Corniche Street, a main thoroughfare runs parallel to the Corniche and connects Doha's emerging West Bay business district with the south of the city and Doha international airport. The sightseers will always have the sea on one side while there is a small stretch of grassland and a very hectic business street on the other side.
