The Lonja is an emblematic building of the city and one of the most famous civil gothic monuments in Europe. It was declared a National Historic and Artistic Monument in July1931 and was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in December 1996. The Lonja is located in the centre of the city - in front of the Central Market and the Temple of Santos Juanes - and occupies a rectangular area of 1.990 square metres. At the end of the 13th century, as a result of the prosperity in Valencia at the time, the old Lonja became insufficient and it was decided to build a new Exchange.

The City of Arts and Sciences (La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias) in València is a spectacular and imposing space designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava. This centre for leisure and culture, with its avant-garde architecture, is set firmly within the 21st century. At the Hemisfèric one can see the very latest Imax films; there is also a planetarium and an innovative laser show. The Science Museum is located in a spectacular building and offers exhibitions where touching is permitted and where visitors can run all sorts of fascinating hands-on experiments. The Oceanogràfic reproduces all the ecosystems on the planet, with an astounding diversity of flora and fauna. The Palau de les Arts, with its spectacular oval-shaped design, is the place for seeing the best operas, concerts and stage performances. Lastly, the CaixaForum València. This building was designed as a multifunctional, versatile space, suitable for hosting various different types of events.

This wonderful zoo, which covers around 100,000 square metres, gives the visitor a worthwhile and unique perspective as it allows visitors to experience the habitat of a wide array of animals in real live. There are close to a thousand animals of 150 different African species at Valencia’s Bioparc, with specially designed habitats to ensure their utmost well-being and comfort. Here the barriers are practically invisible. It aims to give visitors the chance to experience the African continent, and learn the importance of protecting natural environments.
