NH Collection Mexico City Centro Historico

This building was designed to exhibit the archaeological findings of the zone that used to be the Main Temple of the Mexica people. The collection shows the political, military and aesthetic relevance of the city that dominated Mesoamerica before the Spaniards arrived. The Coyolxauhqui monolith, enabled the archaeologists to find the exact place where the pyramid stood, since the Huitzilopochtli myth tells that he threw his sister down from Coatepec mount.

The Museo Nacional de Arte is the Mexican national art museum, located in the historical center of Mexico City. The museum is housed in a neoclassical building at No. 8 Tacuba, Col. Centro, Mexico City.

Mexico City’s Metropolitan Cathedral is built on land of a mystical origin. It was the crossroads of the four cardinal points, and the demarcation of the meeting points of the four original neighborhoods of ancient Tenochtitlan. It’s thus the spiritual center of the Aztec capital.

The Monument to the Revolution (Spanish: Monumento a la Revolución) is a landmark and monument commemorating the Mexican Revolution. It is located in Plaza de la República, which crosses at the heart of the major thoroughfares Paseo de la Reforma and Avenida de los Insurgentes in downtown Mexico City.

The Zócalo is the central plaza of the City and often referred to as the central plaza of the entire country. As such, it is the frequent site of many of the important events in the city. The Zócalo is bordered on the north by the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City. To the east is the National Palace, seat of the Federal Government. To the south is the Antiguo Palacio del Ayuntamiento, seat of the city government, and it’s twin. To the west you will find private buildings, among them the Mercaderes building and the original Monte de Piedad. Along this side you’ll find a few restaurants and terraces with spectacular views of the center city.
