Macao attracts over 30 millions visitor annually, is a meeting point for Eastern and Western business and cultural exchanges with the city functioning as a trading platform for many centuries. Macau’s 25 UNESCO Heritage sites, centuries-old ruins and structures, reflect its strong Asian identity and long history as a Portuguese settlement. Other attractions include the Grand Prix Museum, Taipa House Museum, A-Ma Cultural Village. As a contrast to the old and traditional Macao visitors may experience the integrated resorts for shows, concerts, designer shopping, dining and themed activities e.g. Studio City has the tallest figure 8 ferries wheel, City of Dreams has the famous “House of Dancing Water” Show; Galaxy Macau has the World biggest Skytop wave pool at 75,000 sqm. Strategically located in the Pan-Pearl River Delta region, which is one of the most vibrant economic regions in China, Macao is made for meetings of all sizes offering fully integrated convention precincts, over 190,000 sqm of meeting space and 37,000 hotel rooms all conveniently within 30 square kilometers. Macao continues to diversify and expand its product offering for the international MICE market including new activities, attractions, accommodation and venues. These developments along with improved accessibility via the Hong Kong - Macao - Zhuhai road bridge will open up new market opportunities for the attraction of MICE business. Take for example of the dining scene, Macau now boasts 16 Michelin star restaurants. An incredible feat in such a short space of time and for a city of 640,000 people and a landmass of only 30sqkms. In addition, Macao has the proven ability to host the world's largest events with minimal logistics. According to the latest Asia Pacific City Ranking Report which issued by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Macao was positioned at 59th in 2012 and 17th in 2016, up 42 places between 4 years’ time.

About Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM): IPIM is the government agency responsible for trade and investment as well as the promotion of Macao as a business events destination, offers One-Stop Service for business events and a series of support programmes to assist meeting and event organizers that are hosting events in Macao! Over the years, Macao’s MICE industry has been growing significantly, the number of conventions and exhibitions held in Macao increased almost 4 fold between 2002 and 2016, from about 260 events to 1276 , number of participants is also increased to over 1.7 million.
