The park offers seven miles (11 km) of shoreline nooks and crannies that provide options for family picnics, including developed areas in Willow Bay and Cold Springs. It has long been the park of choice for many special events, sporting competitions and festivals and attracts over one million visitors each year

The Erie Canal Museum, in Syracuse, New York is a museum about the Erie Canal across New York. It is located in the Weighlock Building, itself listed on the National Register of Historic Places of the United States. When the Erie Canal Museum opened its doors on October 25, 1962, it celebrated and preserved the life of the last remaining Weighlock Building in America. This Greek revival building stands as a monument to the importance of the Erie Canal to the history of the United States. It is housed in a weigh lock building dating from 1850, where canal boats used to be weighed when travelling through Syracuse on the canal. The museum includes a gallery of present canal life. Today, the Museum, which is accredited by the American Association of Museums, is visited annually by many thousands of visitors from all 50 states and many foreign countries.

THE JMA Wireless Dome is a 49,262-seat sports stadium located on the campus of Syracuse University (SU). It is the only domed stadium in the Northeast, and is the largest structure of its kind on a college campus in the country. Since its opening on September 20, 1980, the facility has hosted a wide variety of events. The facility serves as the home of SU football, men's and women’s basketball, and men's and women's lacrosse. Furthermore, the "Dome" has hosted numerous rounds of NCAA championships in basketball, lacrosse and track and field and hosts regional and state scholastic competitions in football, as well as NBA pre-season games. In addition to sporting events, the Dome has staged Olympic champion ice skating shows, as well as concerts by stars such as Elton John, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, U2, Genesis, the Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, The Who, Neil Diamond, Pink Floyd, the Zak Brown Band and many other rock and country performers.
