he grand opening of the new High Museum of Art in November 2005 was an historic milestone not only for the Museum, but also the city of Atlanta and the Southeast. The renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano fashioned an architectural masterpiece in Midtown Atlanta. Richard Meier's critically acclaimed building in 1983 established the High among the nation's leading cultural institutions. The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia houses U.S. President Jimmy Carter's papers and other material relating to the Carter administration and the Carter family's life.
