Starr's Mill
Starr's Mill
Historical landmark
William T. Glower built the current building in 1907. The Starr's Mill site also included a cotton gin and a dynamo that produced electricity for the nearby town of Senoia. The turbine mill ran up until 1959, and although not operating today, it is now restored and owned by the Fayette County Water System. The Fayette County Water System purchased the historic Starr's Mill in February 1991. This purchase included the mill house, dam, and approximately 16 acres of land. It is located on Highway 85 south of Fayetteville and will continue to be used for fishing, family gatherings, and picnics.

Airbase Georgia
Airbase Georgia
Museum
The Commemorative Air Force Dixie Wing was granted a Provisional Charter on February 28, 1987, and Wing Charter No. 48 on January 30, 1989. It has since displayed its collection of vintage World War II era aircraft at numerous airshows throughout the Southeast. On February 18, 2021, the Dixie Wing was awarded the designation of Airbase by Commemorative Air Force headquarters as a result of tremendous growth and awarded accomplishments over its 35 year history. The Dixie Wing was officially renamed to Airbase Georgia. The Airbase is composed of over 500 all-volunteer members. We operate several rare WWII vintage aircraft including a P-51D Mustang, a FG-1D Corsair, one of the few flying SBD-5 Dauntless in the world, a P-63A Kingcobra, a T-6 Texan, a T-34B Mentor, and a Fairchild PT-19A Cornell. We also have a Republic P-47N Thunderbolt and Boeing N2S Stearman in restoration. The Airbase is a non-profit, tax-exempt “flying museum” that depends on contributions of time and funds to carry out its mission. Airbase Georgia is the only Flying Museum located in the Atlanta metro area. The Commemorative Air Force was founded to acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States, and selected aircraft of other nations, for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans. More than just a collection of airworthy warplanes from the past, the CAF’s fleet of historic aircraft, known as the CAF Ghost Squadron, recreate, remind and reinforce the lessons learned from the defining moments in American military aviation history.
