Local Attractions

Le Marais district

Shopping
3 minutes away
Le Marais is a popular place among fun hunters, foodies and locals. In the Marais you can visit the oldest place, or square, in Paris and one of the prettiest: Place des Vosges was the inspiration for hundreds of squares (it's where the name came from) around Europe and the first Paris park to be open to the public. A great location to start your walking tour of the Marais. Le Marais may not be the first neighborhood you think of when you imagine Paris, but if you’re familiar with New York City, then you could compare the Le Marais neighborhood to the West Village or Soho. Le Marais is full of small, cobblestone streets, and lined with cozy restaurants, trendy independent fashion boutiques, artisanal coffee shops, contemporary art galleries, and several prominent museums. If you’re planning a trip to Paris, Le Marais is a neighborhood that should be on your list!

The Enfants Rouges covered market

Shopping
The Enfants Rouges covered market, created in 1615, hasn’t aged a bit! Paris’s oldest food market is situated in the Haut Marais, close to rue de Bretagne. Parisians and tourists like to buy lots of fresh products at these stalls full of colour and fragrance. The friendly atmosphere is ideal for a quick lunch at the Italian deli, the organic stand, the Lebanese caterer or at the Japanese snack bar. On Sunday, brunch fans head to L’Estaminet, a restaurant tucked away in the heart of the market, or to La Petite Fabrique. Located at only 8 minutes walking distance from the hotel Les Jardins du Marais.

Le Jardin des Plantes

Park
15 minutes away
At the Jardin des Plantes, creatures large and small live together in harmony. Come and meet some new animal friends at the world’s second oldest zoo, open since 1794. Each building in the Ménagerie showcases a different architectural style; from cozy log cabins to grand Art Deco constructions of the 20s and 30s, this unique heritage enriches the lush green haven of the zoo. Today, the Ménagerie in the heart of Paris is home to over 1,200 animals, many of which belong to endangered species. 9 minutes away
Situated in the historical Marais district, the Musée Carnavalet is dedicated to the history of Paris from its origins to present day. Opened in 1880, the current museum occupies two mansions from the 16th and 17th centuries. In this remarkable architectural setting, you can discover the rich collections of the museum: medieval and Gallo-Roman archeological collection, mementos of the French Revolution, paintings, sculptures, furniture and items of art. The collections are presented in rooms which reconstruct the atmosphere of 14th and 15th century private residences. One of the highlights of the visit is the Orangery, which was entirely restored in 2000. Major exhibitions are regularly organized here. The Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, is the most visited monument in France. It was built in the Middle Ages, at the far end of the Île de la Cité.
