Birdsong from bulbuls and Ryukyu robins decorates the dawn and some of the healthiest people on earth call the island home. Here, longevity is nurtured through well-being pathways of relaxation and rejuvenation. Try the Welcome Foot Ritual using local snow salt, swim with the island's resident sea turtles or practice martial arts with a master in the birthplace of karate. Reconnect with yourself in a place where nurturing well-being is a way of life. On Miyakojima, Ryukyuan culture is made personal. Native Adan tree fibers handwoven into baskets, the spiral of a Ryukyuan pattern is explained by an artisan, clay drawn from the land is shaped in a Tsuboya pottery studio.
