History: Back in 1858 the Baron van Brienen, who was a counsellor to King William III, had a town palace built on the posh Lange Voorhout avenue. He chose this location because he wanted a stately accommodation in downtown The Hague to be able to host parties. A few years after the baron passed away the building was sold, and it opened in 1881 by Prince Frederic of Orange as Hotel Des Indes. Original details of the Palace are still integrated in the design.
