The beautiful green city is known for its palm trees and gardens. The famous palm grove "el Palmeral" is the most northern of its type in Europe. Today there are more than 300,000 palm trees and meanwhile the park has been included in the World Heritage List of the UNESCO. The palms trees are 200 - 300 years old and reach a height of 30 m.
