The George Washington Masonic Memorial is a combination of all the following: Colossal Memorial and Museum; Tourist Attraction and Destination; Research Center and Library; Center for Community Activities; Performing Arts Center and Concert Hall; Banquet and Celebration Site; Host Location for Visiting Lodges and Masonic Bodies; Meeting Site for Masonic and Appendant Bodies; However, first and foremost, this is a Masonic Memorial, honoring and perpetuating the memory and character of our Brother, George Washington.

More than four million people visit the cemetery annually, many coming to pay final respects at graveside services, of which nearly 100 are conducted each week, Monday through Friday. A first stop on a trip to the cemetery should include the Visitors Center, located by the cemetery entrance, where maps, guidebooks, exhibits, information services (to include grave locations), a bookstore and restrooms can be found. Please note that the cemetery does not provide wheelchairs or strollers and if you require this service you will need to bring your own.

Mount Vernon is the most popular historic estate in America and is open 365 days a year. The estate, gardens and farm of Mount Vernon totaled some 8,000 acres in the 18th century.Visitors can see 20 structures and 50 acres of gardens as they existed in 1799. The estate also includes a museum, the tombs of George and Martha Washington, Washington's greenhouse, an outdoor exhibit devoted to American agriculture as practiced by Washington, the nation's most important memorial to the accomplishments of 18th-century slaves, and a collection which features numerous decorative and domestic artifacts. Mount Vernon welcomes an average of 1,000,000 visitors each year.
