Lazienki Park

公園
距離 4 km
King Stanisław August Poniatowski engaged outstanding architects – Dominic Merlini and Jan Christian Kamsetzer – to create his summer mansion. Beautiful facilities in the classical style: the Palace on the Island, the Amphitheatre, the White House and the Old Orangery with King Stanisław’s Theatre are the effects of their work. Renowned painters and sculptors created unique interior which housed the collections of exquisite pieces of art. These structures are surrounded by beautiful gardens, diversified in terms of style. The whiteness of the Palace on the Island is reflected in the gloomy waters of the pond. The park is intersected by numerous channels. Romantic bridges lead to shadowy avenues being the place of rest in hot summer days. Peacocks stroll dignified on the Palace’s courtyard. Lush vegetation, including the specimen of rare trees and bushes, supplements splendid architectural facilities. Fryderyk Chopin monument, next to which concerts are organized in the summer, is located in the park. The Varsovians have an opportunity to watch theatre performances or movie shows. The Old Orangery houses numerous exhibitions. The place is visited by crowds of citizens and tourists.

Palace of Culture and Science

歴史的名所

The Palace of Culture and Science is not just a popular tourist attraction but one of the dominating features and landmarks of the Warsaw skyline. It remains the tallest building in Poland, and one of the tallest in Europe, standing at 231 metres high. Modelled around buildings like the Empire State Building, this palace of culture in Warsaw was commissioned by Joseph Stalin. Amazingly, it was built in just three years and was completed by 1955.

Royal Castle

歴史的名所
距離 2 km
The Royal Castle (Zamek Królewski) dates back to the 14th century when a tower and wooden buildings stood here. The construction of the Castle in its current form began towards the end of the 16th century. King Sigismund III. (Zygmunt III.) ordered the expansion shortly after Warsaw became the capitol of Poland in 1596. Later the castle was expanded several times. King Wladyslaw IV. built the Wladyslawowska Tower (in the courtyard) and King August III remodeled the outside of the castle facing towards the Vistula and the wing facing towards the north. The largest modifications were done by Poland’s last King Stanislaw August Poniatowski after he came to power in 1764. He changed several things inside the castle and built the south wing. In the Second World War a huge part of the castle was damaged in 1939, later in 1944 the remaining parts were destroyed. Today’s Royal Castle is a reconstruction of the old castle. Fortunately lots of original details can still be seen today as they had been kept at a secure location during the war. The decision to rebuild the castle came in 1971, so that the reconstruction took around 50 years from its destruction.

In 1980 the old town in Warsaw was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, ensuring its protection for the future.

Wilanow Palace

公園
距離 8 km
The Palace is one of the most beautiful monuments of the Polish Baroque architecture, a museum of interiors and a collection of European and Oriental art. Built in the second half of the 17th century, the Palace initially served as a summer Royal residence of one of the greatest Polish monarchs - King John III Sobieski. Decorativeness of both the facades and the luxurious – recently restored - interiors fully accords with the unspoiled beauty of its surrounding nature. The Wilanów Park embraces several types of historical gardens: Baroque, English-Chinese, landscape and the magical rose garden.

Chopin's Museum

美術館
距離 2 km
Opened on March 1st, 2010, definitely one of the most modern and hi-tech museums in the world, Fryderyk Chopin Museum presents the viewers with wide spectrum of various exhibits documenting Chopin’s life and work. Placed in the historic Ostrogski Castle and covering 4,600 m2, the museum allows you to step back in time to fully experience the atmosphere of the past. Led by a chip card, your very own electronic tour guide, you immerse in Chopin’s reality for as long as you wish - there are four tour options that vary in length. Thanks to the technology used by the designers, every visitor is able to experience with all senses even the most fugitive aspects of Chopin’s everyday life, such as street noises or the smell of violets - the composer’s most favourite flowers. The futuristic interior, spiked with electronics, leaves enough room for the past nonetheless - there are rooms in the museum designed as true copies of those Chopin used to live in. The creators of the museum thought not only of the adult visitors but of children as well. There is a place created especially for the youngest ones, full of modern, attention - attracting appliances, aimed at triggering kids’ interest in Chopin’s music. During your visit, you will be able to view a selection of over 5,000 exhibits stored in the museum, namely: autographs, first editions of Chopin’s works, his correspondence, souvenirs, documents, important editions of the composer’s compositions, pictures, graphics and sculptures. Those interested in other, non-musical aspects of Chopin’s life will find it exciting to be able to see the articles of daily use once owned by him, such as a pencil, his notes, a plate, a gold watch as well as more unusual souvenirs - a strand of composer’s hair or a dried twig collected during his funeral. The Museum is truly unique for the fact of offering visitors almost tailor-made sightseeing routes with their personal, electronic tour guides, so that (apart from the obvious educational aspect) the visit to the museum becomes a value and adventure in itself.
