Built after the 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan, this sandstone monument is inscribed with the names of fallen Indian soldiers.

Zoji La

Located 3.5 kilometres above sea level, this mountain pass offers stunning views from narrow roads without railings. Caution is advised—the area is prone to heavy snow, landslides and risky one-lane traffic—but the Himalayan vistas are difficult to resist.
