The Gardens are open for self guided walking tours from 9am-4pm Mondays through Fridays. Trees, shrubs, vines, ground covers, perennials, and ornamental grasses now show how foliage textures and colors can combine for beautiful effects. Flower color comes primarily from blooming shrubs and perennials. This is truly a garden for all seasons.

Shoreline's 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course is a scenic lakeside golf course bordering the shores of Carter Lake. Mature cottonwood trees line the bluegrass fairways that lead to large bent grass greens, providing a traditional and serene experience.

The extensive sixteen-acre formal garden was planned and planted as construction of the house neared completion. The lawns and shrubs around the house were planted by the fall of 1917. The woodlands and the undeveloped Crystal Springs Watershed lands surrounding the estate provide a magnificent backdrop for the formal garden. The garden survives today as one of America’s finest historic gardens.
