Avenida Hotel - Maputo

Located about 15 minutes’ walk from the Hotel, FEIMA, also known as Jardim do Continuadores or Maputo Fair of Handicrafts, Gastronomy and Flowers, is an ancient place. Since November 2012, there have been public-private partnerships to manage the site. Over time, many artists selling on the streets of Maputo gathered to create a point of reference for selling Mozambican handicrafts. Here you will find everything: art from the South, North and Centre zones, necklaces, wallets, earrings, capulana items, batiques, wood or iron art.

Close to the Avenue where the Hotel is located, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Catembe and Rio area and on clear days you can see Inhaca Island and the Xefina Islands. At one end of the Miradouro, you can find the Jardim dos Namorados, currently being rehabilitated. The Garden, entitled Valentine's, prepared a special corner for the bride and groom, with benches and a beautiful view. During the weekend, it is common to see the bride and groom taking pictures in this garden soon after the wedding.

About 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel, the Núcleo de Arte is the meeting point for painters and artists from the city of Maputo. The artists formed this association that helps them assert themselves in the city and in the world as Mozambican artists. This space has an art gallery with always interesting exhibitions that vary weekly. It is the ideal place to negotiate unique works of art and do it together with the artists. On Sundays nights, they usually perform concerts by amateur Mozambican bands.

Within 10 minutes’ walking distance, you can visit the Museum of Natural History, which was created in 1913 as a Provincial Museum, and occupied several locations until it was established in 1932 in the current neo-Manueline building as the Dr. Álvaro de Castro Museum. After the independence, it began to be designated as Maputo National History Museum. The naturalistic information is given through the exhibition of specimens of a zoological nature, usually inserted in scenarios simulating the natural ones. Among its collections, the zoological collection that has been exhibited consists of a great variety of embalmed mammals (200), birds (10 137), Insects (176 527), invertebrates (1.250) and reptiles (150). Among the specimens exposed is a collection, probably unique in the world, of elephant foetuses from one month to 22 months. As a document stated in this Museum indicates today it would be unthinkable to carry out something similar.
