About us
Situated on the outskirts of Galway city and on the banks of the river Corrib, University of Galway's 105 Hectare campus is an ideal location for conferences, meetings and events. Our historic campus, dating back to 1845, has grown massively in size and reputation since then, with a student population today of over 19,000. Over the past decade, we have been steadily increasing our global reach and reputation. According to QS World University Rankings, we are now ranked in the top 2% of universities worldwide and the top 100 universities in Europe. Ranked Ireland's #1 university for sustainable development in the Times Higher Education World Rankings (THE), we're not just about excellence in teaching; we're about shaping a better world. Picturesque grounds, state-of-the-art facilities, excellent accommodation, a choice of restaurants and first-class recreational amenities add to the attractiveness of University of Galway as a conference and event venue in Galway city. The University's established, multi-purpose venue, the Bailey Allen Hall, is located within a 10-minute walk of the city centre and can cater for large events such as conferences, exhibitions, concerts and gala dinners. The venue can also be subdivided into three independent soundproof venues, all with blackout facilities, state-of-the-art AV specifications and mobile staging to allow for multi-purpose set-ups. In addition to the Bailey Allen Hall, there is also a choice of over 100 other venues within the University including 27 tiered lecture theatres to accommodate from 70 to 360 delegates, a range of boardrooms & classrooms to accommodate from 5 to 100 delegates and extensive exhibition spaces adjacent to many of our venues. There are three campus residences at University of Galway; Corrib Village, Goldcrest Village and Dunlin Village. Our residences boast over 1,800 beds across over 370 apartments which are available during the summer months. All situated within close proximity of the University's meeting, learning and sports facilities, our on campus accommodation is an ideal option for conference delegates, event attendees and visiting groups.
