An archaeological museum located in Costa Rica's capital city of San Jose, the Jade Museum "Marco Fidel Tristan Castro" is situated in the National Institute of Insurance (INS) building. The museum was founded in 1977 by Marco Fidel Tristan Castro, the first president of the INS, and boasts an extensive collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. In fact, the Museo del Jade is the home of the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian jade, an ornamental stone.

The Costa Rica Art Museum was inaugurated in 1978, and it is situated in La Sabana Metroplitan Park, in the building of the former control tower of the old San Jose Airport. The exhibits have pieces from the XIX century to present time including drawings, engravings, paintings, sculptures, photographs and videos. The museum also features temporal exhibits, a garden of sculptures designed by the artist Jorge Jimenez de Heredia and the beautiful Salon Dorado (Golden Room) with an impressive mural representing Costa Rica history from pre-Columbian times to 1940; sculpted in 1940 by Luis Féron Parizot (1901-1998), a French sculptor and goldsmith.

El Pueblo Shopping Center (Centro Comercial el Pueblo) is another place that you may want to visit, it is located in Barrio Turnón at 5min from San Jose Downtown, El Pueblo was designed to resemble a colonial town and it is full of restaurants, bars and souvenir shops.

Covering an area of 0.72 km² (72 hectares = 720 000 m2), La Sabana Metropolitan Park is adjacent to the city's core districts, offering green space and recreation to the residents of San José. Several important institutions and organizations are located within or adjacent to the park.

The National Theatre of Costa Rica is the national theatre of Costa Rica. It is located in the central section of San José, Costa Rica. Construction began in 1891, and it opened to the public on 21 October 1897 with a performance of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust. The National Theatre stood as a cultural asset of the country during a time when coffee exports were a source of its success. It presents high quality performances, with artistic criteria being very high. The building is considered the finest historic building in the capital, and it is known for its exquisite interior which includes its lavish furnishings.

Take an Aerial Tram tour at Rainforest Adventures Costa Rica Atlantic for an hour and 20 minutes and cover a distance of 2.6 kilometers through the treetops of the primary rainforest at a leisurely pace of two kilometers per hour. The open-air rain forest tram gondolas with canvas awnings seat six passengers plus a naturalist guide. It’s an excellent option for family and groups.
