Souq Waqif, Doha’s famous marketplace built in the traditional Middle Eastern style, is full of mazes which can be daunting for newcomers. For centuries, this location has been a souq for Bedouin (nomads who have historically inhabited the Arabian and Syrian Deserts.) to take the wool and animals to trade for daily necessities. With time pass, the souq started to run down and has almost get to the point of being demolished. Luckily, in 2004, it was decided to preserve this historical site so the entire market area has been renovated and restored according to the traditional Qatari architectural techniques. It’s probably the only traditional souq left in the Gulf.

The new National Museum of Qatar gives voice to the unique story of Qatar and its people from earliest times to the present day and onwards towards its future. Designed to be both immersive and experiential, visitors can expect to encounter a rich environment to explore. Organised in three “chapters” — Beginnings, Life in Qatar, and The Modern History of Qatar, each theme is presented across eleven highly individual galleries. You will find inside the Museum, Gifts shops Cafés and Restaurants.

City Center is in the heart of the economic district of Doha in West Bay.
