It's the largest 3D relief map in the world, a huge model of Scotland complete with lochs, mountains and glens in the grounds of Barony Castle in Eddleston. Built by a Polish war veteran stationed in the Borders, it's an astonishing creation - and now a listed building. The castle is 5 miles north of the hotel on the A703. Head towards Leadburn and look out for signs on the left hand side - use EH45 8QW for your satnav.

With over 90 to choose from, you're bound to find a few favourites and maybe even one from your home town. In the grounds you'll find the Freewheelin' Brewery, where our very own Peebles Hydro Ale is made. Just pop out of the main entrance and turn right towards the car park and you'll see the brewery - ask at reception for tastings and tour.
