The Sundance Film Festival, a program of the Sundance Institute, is an American film festival that takes place annually in Utah. With 50,000 attendees it is one of the largest independent film festivals in the United States. Held each January with a flurry of events and movie premieres in Park City (with additional events in Salt Lake City, Ogden and at the Sundance Resort in Provo Canyon), the festival is a showcase for new work from American and international independent filmmakers, attracting cinema aficionados and celebrities the world over. The Park City Museum is dedicated to promoting, protecting, and preserving the rich history and heritage of Park City, Utah. From the mining days of old (including the original territorial jail cells) to the ski heritage of today, including the city’s role as the home of the most recent Olympics to take place on U.S. soil (Winter, 2002). The Museum offers guided tours through the exhibits by appointment only. Please make reservations at least three weeks in advance. Tours are $15 per person and last approximately one hour.
