Plus

Following an extensive restoration preserving The Benjamin Royal Sonesta Hotel’s legacy and redefining the future, we are honored to debut newly renovated sophisticated interiors, featuring stylish furnishings infusing a residential feel and unique touches. Custom artwork with an ode to New York City is integrated throughout the luxurious guestrooms and suites. While the lobby strives to capture the spirit of Midtown, the hotel’s guestroom and suites is where our guests come home. Originally designed as the residential-style Beverly Hotel with wind swept terraces to entertain, the Neo-Romanesque edifice exuded the ambience of a private club and is one of the most recognized works by famed architect Emery Roth. The edifice inspired artist Georgia O’Keeffe, she painted it as the subject of her piece “New York—Night.” Recognizing the hotel’s profound cultural significance and heritage, the hotel was renamed The Benjamin and appointed by New York City as an official New York City landmark in 2017. One of the premiere hotels built in the 1920’s, The Benjamin represents the early evolution of skyscraper design in New York City. The hotel’s special character and special historical aesthetic has contributed to its value as part of the development, heritage and cultural characteristics of New York City. Taking cues from the building’s history, the two main characters Benjamin and Beverly come alive to share their story and their deep friendship. The new design features masculine elements as a reflection of “Ben,” with exquisite architecture moments, bold lines, and modern details, with feminine touches to showcase “Bev” through gilded curves, intricate patterns, and a soft palette. Discover a unique fusion of past and present, where cherished memories are made, and the spirit of hospitality is alive. The story of New York City begins with an individual journey and evolves to a collective experience…
