Montreux Jazz Festival

Every year, during the first two weeks of July, over 220'000 people come to Montreux to attend this festival's concerts either in grand concert halls or in the steets. Founded in 1967 by Claude Nobs, it has grown in popularity over the years, as it has attracted the greatest artists, such as Miles Davis, Ray Charles, David Bowie or Prince. Jazz music constituted the Festival's historic roots, but other musical styles quickly found their place within the festival.

Chillon Castle

Located on a rocky island right off the shore, the Chillon Castle is the most visited monument in Switzerland. Numerous artists and writers were inspired by the medieval fortress, such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, and Lord Byron. Two magnificent halls are available for banquets, and the castle is a particularly popular venue for medieval evenings. It can host up to 650 people.

Casino Barrière Montreux

The Casino Barrière de Montreux is the only casino in French speaking Switzerland that has no limit on bets and winnings. Inaugurated in 1881, the casino was used to host concerts during the Montreux Jazz Festival, as well as a recording studio in which Queen recorded their album "Made in Heaven". In 1971, the casino caught fire during a Frank Zappa concert, which inspired the famous song by Deep Purple, "Smoke on the Water".
