The Hotel was founded in 1875. This impressive property, which is steeped in history and full of character, combines contemporary comforts and amenities with quintessentially English décor and charm. In 2023 The Bugis Singapore restaurant and The Bailey's Bar was refurbished and has a contemporary, modern vibrant, fresh feel. The hotel also underwent during 2016 a full £8M renovation, restoring the original Victorian townhouse features, including the lobby’s grand staircase, reception, and each guest room has been contemporarily finished for a home-away-from-home feel. Further to the (full) renovation, the hotel now offers 4 different guestroom concepts (over 5 floors): City Gent, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kensington & the Great Exhibition, and Henley Regattas of Henley-on-Thames. All Rooms are fitted with a power-hub (UK, Intl' and US plugs) which include USB power-sockets. Gloucester Road underground station is located in front of the Bailey’s Hotel in less than a minute walk. The distance to Royal Albert Hall, Natural History Museum and Kensington Palace is only a short 10 minute walk. The Hotel has 212 bedrooms.
