The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

About us
The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is a luxury oceanfront hotel located on a 10,000-acre barrier island 25 miles south of Charleston, South Carolina. Guests arrive at the hotel, reminiscent of a gracious seaside mansion, by winding under a canopy of Spanish moss-draped live oaks, creating an aura of relaxed elegance that permeates the property. The hotel offers 255 spacious guest rooms and suites, 93 percent of which enjoy ocean views with private balconies providing sweeping views of manicured lawns, the beach and the Atlantic. Accommodations in the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star/AAA Five Diamond property consist of 128 double queen rooms, 114 king rooms and 13 king suites ranging from 1,200 to 3,100 square feet. The Sanctuary is one of only five properties in the United States to earn a triple Five-Star rating from Forbes Travel Guide. The elegant Forbes Five-Star Ocean Room delivers an unparalleled fine dining experience. Jasmine Porch serves classic Lowcountry fare crafter from locally sourced ingredients. The Lobby Bar renders classic and creative seasonal cocktails complemented by small plates. Loggerhead Bar & Grill provides Caribbean-inspired cuisine and tropical drinks poolside as well as on The Sanctuary beach. Beaches & Cream specializes in locally sourced gourmet ice cream, and Signature Gourmet Coffee Shop serves a gourmet coffee selection as well as fresh pastries, hot and cold breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and an assortment of grab-and-go options. Other dining venues throughout the resort provide a wide range of culinary diversity. The Spa at The Sanctuary, among only a handful of spas worldwide to attain Forbes Travel Guide Five Star status, offers treatments using exclusive products inspired by our proximity to the sea. The spa is a relaxing oasis reminiscent of a classical Charleston courtyard garden, an ideal option for programs that incorporate special activities. Every meeting and conference facility in The Sanctuary offers fiber-optic videoconferencing technology and both wireless and land-based high-speed Internet access. Wireless capability even extends to outdoor areas, including the beach. A state-of-the-art staffed business center located in the conference wing features nearly everything a planner needs, including private work areas. The Sanctuary offers the flexibility of both indoor and outdoor pre-event and event space for programs ranging from 22 to 750 attendees. The core meeting space, Grand Oaks Ballroom, is an elegant setting for both meetings and banquets, and its 6,000 square feet may be subdivided by air-walls into four separate rooms. It includes a foyer as well as brick-paved veranda and private garden. The 3,116-square-foot Terrace Ballroom, though smaller, is equally elegant and opens through French doors onto a courtyard and the Terrace Lawn that provides breathtaking oceanfront private event space. The 1,180-square-foot Heron Ballroom is perfect for more intimate meetings, and is complemented by five additional executive conference rooms, including the ultra-secluded Calhoun Boardroom that features hand-rubbed cypress paneling, a separate anteroom and private bathroom facilities and a private entrance to facilitate discreet catering. Leisure activities include golf at our five highly celebrated courses, including the famed Ocean Course, home of the 1991 Ryder Cup, 2012 PGA Championship and 2021 PGA Championship. The internationally number-one-ranked Roy Barth Tennis Center caters to all players from novices to highly competitive amateurs and professionals. Recreation programs serve as extraordinary teambuilding activities that better acquaint attendees in a casual setting. Meeting attendees relish our 10 miles of pristine beach, multiple pool complexes, miles of tidal creeks to explore during naturalist-led excursions and the island’s 30-plus miles of paved biking trails..
