Nucky's Speakeasy

Nucky’s Speakeasy, named after the famous Atlantic City, NJ political boss and racketeer Enoch “Nucky” Johnson, is located in the heart of downtown Anoka beneath Club 300 Jamasian Cuisine Restaurant, in the Old Post Office. This beautiful structure was built in 1916 and is on the MN Historical Registry. The Speakeasy has its own private entry in the back where there is plenty of parking in the public lot. Look for the red door and descend the outside stairway along the building. Wear your best 1920’s flair and enter to relive a by-gone era of the prohibition days! Craft cocktails, beer, prohibition drinks, appetizers, and desserts are waiting for you. No reservations needed.

Accompanying Island Lake Golf’s nine hole course is a practice range with well positioned targets, an 18 hole miniature golf course and a snack bar just inside the clubhouse. Both the practice range and miniature golf course are lit for evening play. Island Lake Golf & Training Center is committed to providing top-ranked golf training programs with exceptional customer service. Greg Schulze, 2007 Minnesota PGA Teacher of the Year, directs or trains all instructors for each program! Greg has put his personal touch on all our programs and leagues. There are programs for juniors and seniors, beginners and advanced players and everyone in between are available.

Forgotten Star Brew Co. in Fridley is a new brewery and taproom fashioned from a 1940s pump company that was converted to manufacturing canon for the navy during WWII. The plant was recognized seven times throughout the war for efficiency and excellence – and is one of just eight plants to achieve this lofty recognition. Forgotten Star Brewing is committed to this same level of excellence in brewing craft beer. The converted space is spectacular – historic, comfortable and homey all at the same time. Don’t let the name fool you. The Anoka Hardware Store is a speakeasy, craft cocktail, whiskey, & jazz lounge offering a unique experience as well as live music. Reservations are highly suggested as seating is very limited. Find the red light. When it’s on, they’re open! Be sure to tell the “hardware specialist” you’re there to buy a hammer.
