Lumbini, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Repère historique
À 30 minutes
The birthplace of the Buddha, Lumbini is just a 30-minute drive from the resort. A pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all around the world, this is where, according to Buddhist belief, Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama in 563 BCE. Lumbini has a number of temples, including the Mayadevi Temple, many monuments, monasteries and a museum.

Chitwan National Park

Loisirs
À 80 km
Chitwan National Park is Nepal’s oldest National Park, also a World Heritage Site, where one can track wild Royal Bengal tigers, spot a one-horned rhinocerous, or watch great Asiatic elephants bathing in the river. Spread over more than 900 square kilometres, Chitwan National Park is home to over 700 species of wildlife, including the giant hornbill.

Bird Watching

Loisirs
A wide variety of resident and migratory birds – some from as far away as Siberia - are attracted to the fertile regions of the Terai. Rupandehi district, which Bhairahawa is a part of, is home to over 240 bird species, including the best-known population of the globally endangered Sarus Crane. Birdlife International has declared Lumbini an ‘internationally important bird area’.
