Top 10 reasons for Basel

Basel is a city that is equally popular with holidaymakers and business travellers. On the one hand, it has a rich cultural offering that includes world-famous museums, first-class modern architecture and exciting events. Its beautiful Old Town, the Rhine as an area for rest and relaxation, the proximity to Germany and France and a lively culinary scene make it an attractive destination as a city break. On the other hand, Basel is also the most important city in Switzerland for trade fairs and conferences. And this is no coincidence, as the central location, modern infrastructure and short distances to the city centre impress both visitors and organizers. #1 Located in the triangle where Switzerland, France and Germany meet. #2 Easy access via EuroAirport Basel or Zurich Airport (only 1 hour 15 minutes from Basel by train). #3 Headquarters of big multinationals such as Novartis, Hoffmann-La Roche, Straumann and Actelion. #4 9,800 hotel rooms, 1,000 of which are within walking distance of the Congress Center Basel #5 Basel is regarded as the cultural capital of Switzerland, not least on account of its 40 or so museums – some with an international reputation. #6 BaselCard included in your overnight stay for free use of public transport and 50% discount on cultural and leisure attractions. #7 Basel is Switzerland's oldest university city (more than 550 years) and one of Europe's leading teaching and research locations. #8 Congress Center Basel covers a larger area than any other congress venue in Switzerland and is located in the heart of the city. #9 Basel is a key location for the life sciences industry and features the highest concentration of life sciences companies in all of Europe. #10 Congress receives financial support from Basel city authorities.

If you have a passion for architecture, Basel is right up your street with fabulous architecture - because this city welcomes the new. On our tour you will be able to learn more about the fantastic modern buildings in the city, which provide a stunning contrast to the many buildings dating back as far as the 15th century. Local architects such as the famous duos Herzog & de Meuron, Morger & Degelo or Diener & Diener thrill the world with buildings that delight the senses and are particularly committed to improving and developing their native region. However, it is not only local architects that have left their mark on the city and its suburbs in recent years - award-winning foreign architects such as Richard Meier, Frank O. Gehry and Zaha Hadid have also been attracted by Basel's beauty.
