Uluru - Ayers Rock

Repère historique
À 461 km
Rising from seemingly nowhere in the deep centre of Australia, Uluru (Ayers Rock) is one of the world's great natural wonders. Nothing prepares you for the physical impact of this vast and beautiful monolith. Its sheer immensity dwarfs everything around it. Uluru (Ayers Rock) has acquired its reputation not just because it is such a unique landform, but also because of the effect the sun has on its colours and appearance. Sunrises and Sunsets cause changes to its colour from browns though oranges, reds to finally grey. A trip to Uluru (Ayers Rock) is also about experiencing and understanding its cultural and spiritual significance. Both Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta have great cultural significance for the Anangu traditional landowners. Self discover or take guided Uluru (Ayers Rock) tours that inform about the local flora and fauna, bush foods and the Aboriginal Dream time stories of the area.

Simpsons Gap

Repère historique
À 28 minutes
A number of scenic gaps pierce the West MacDonnell Ranges. One of these is Simpsons Gap, site of one of the most prominent waterholes in the region. The area is an important spiritual site to the Arrarnta Aboriginal people, where several dreaming trails and stories cross. At dawn or dusk Simpsons gap it is renowned as a place to see Black-footed Rock-wallabies along the gap's short walking track. Good examples of many of the vegetation communities of the MacDonnell Ranges are found in the Simpsons Gap area, including large stands of Mulga, and the area around the gap is a major stronghold for some of the rare and relict plants of the region. It is accessible all year round with the cooler months (April to September) being the most pleasant.

Standley Chasm

Repère historique
À 46 minutes
Located 50km by sealed road from Alice Springs Standley Chasm has been gauged into tough sandstone by the floods that, over untold millions of years, have surged down a narrow tributary of the Finke River system. The result is a deep red cleft crowded on either side by craggy slopes that rise 80 metres above the floor. An array of wildflowers flourish in the harsh regions surrounding Standley Chasm. The Standley Chasm walk is a trail on a natural site. While every precaution has been taken to ensure the walk is safe for every-one, we do insist that all walkers are of moderate fitness, do wear appropriate footwear, carry a water bottle and wear a hat and sunscreen. You walk our trails at your own risk. Aboriginal people owned and operated.
