Alberobello

Alberobello is located in the heart of Murgia dei Trulli, and its characteristic historical center is a World Heritage site. The town, which was awarded the orange flag by the Italian Touring Club, preserves an historical center made of trulli, buildings erected with dry stone featuring lime-washed walls and a cone-shaped roof built exposed stones. The top of these particular buildings are often decorated with inscriptions of different shapes painted with lime water and depicting zodiacal or religious symbols.

The municipality of Cisternino is located in the amazing Valle d’Itria, renowned for its trulli, the cultivated fields, the centuries-old olive trees and dry stonewalls. In the old town you can admire the many historical palaces: the Governor’s palace, a wonderful example of the Apulian Baroque; the Bishop’s palace, the Amati palace, the Lagravinese palace, the palace of De Vitofranceschi and the Ricci-Capece palace annexed to the homonymous tower, also known as the Wind tower.

Ostuni is located in southern Murgia, only eight kilometers away from the Adriatic coast, and represents one of the most important cultural centers in Salento. The charm of Ostuni, nicknamed the white city, lies in the characteristic white color of its lime-washed old buildings, dominated by the cathedral whose style is still a matter of dispute, although some have argued that it might be related to the Gothic-Romanesque building tradition which has left several examples throughout the Apulian territory

Polignano a Mare

Nicknamed the ‘’Pearl of the Adriatic sea’’ and hometown of Domenico Modugno, Polignano a Mare lies only 30 km south of Bari, stretching along a jagged coastline characterized by blue flag beaches with crystal-clear waters and partially submerged sea caves. A meeting point of different cultures, its historic center shows traces of Arab, Byzantine, Spanish and Norman rule, for instance the remains of the four watchtowers that once dominated the old town walls. Particularly interesting are the mother church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption dating back to 1295 and the archway on the main gate, once the only access to the town.
